Accelerate development and commercialisation of UK battery materials, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support scale-up from lab to industrial manufacturing. Your project must align with one of the groups below:
cathode, anode, electrolyte, separator materials; next-gen chemistries (solid-state, sodium-ion, LFP, high-nickel, silicon-rich); purity, efficiency, automation
Required Outcomes (at least one): Battery-grade materials for large-scale manufacturing · Reduced overseas processing dependence · UK lab-to-pilot scale-up · Critical material recovery to battery-grade quality · Industrial-scale recycling · Integrated material circularity
Projects must: have total grant funding request of between £300,000 and £1.25 million; last between 8 and 12 months; start from 1 September 2026; end by 31 August 2027; carry out all of its project work in the UK, unless specifically stated and pre-approved by Innovate UK; have a maximum of five funded partners; Project work must be carried out in the UK, with results exploited from or in the UK; Lead must be a UK registered business (any size); academic institutions cannot lead; Consortium must include at least one UK SME claiming grant funding; At least two organisations must claim funding; No single partner can exceed 70% of total eligible costs; Non-UK/non-funded partners are permitted but cover their own costs
The UK team has a strong track record in securing some of the most competitive national and European grants on behalf of its clients, with a full understanding of how a project should be presented to stand the highest chance of success. Each year in the UK alone, we are responsible for the submission of more than 100 funding applications across all sectors and priority areas. Based on this extensive experience, through careful project selection and using key insight into how a project should be best positioned, we consistently achieve success rates that are more than 5 times the typical success rates for UK national schemes and EU programmes.
