Analyze your product’s environmental impact across the value chain with our LCA
Do you want to understand and improve the environmental impact of your project? A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the most reliable method to do so. Our environmental experts guide you through a clear, standardized approach that quantifies the environmental footprint of your product or service. It highlights key impact areas within the full value chain and provides you with insights on various environmental categories for innovation.
The European Union identifies LCA as the leading framework for assessing environmental impacts. It is often used as a foundation in various European and national funding programs like the LIFE program, Horizon Europe, the CBE Joint Undertaking, and the Innovation Fund. Beneficiaries are frequently asked to report to grant authorities on their environmental performance using LCA as a methodology. Our experts are here to support you with a well-established methodology and proven experience.
We follow a four-phased approach, delivering a structured and insightful environmental analysis in line with European standards. You will receive a full LCA report, complete with clear data, visualizations, graphs, and actionable insights.
We define the scope and boundaries of our assessment, including the product system, functional or declared unit, impact categories, and potential reference products
Together with your team, we collect data across the value chain – covering internal processes, inputs and outputs. This is translated into a full Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) for the impact calculations.
We calculate the environmental impact Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) methods, based on the categories defined in phase 1. The results show where the greatest environmental impacts of the innovative product, service of project implementation occur.
We compile all findings into a final LCA report, including LCI and LCIA results, assumptions, methodology, and conclusions. Optionally, a sensitivity analysis can be added to explore alternative scenarios or parameters.
The result of every LCA we deliver is a clear and comprehensive report that helps you understand the environmental impacts of your product or service, and what to do next. Alongside the main findings and conclusions, the report includes a transparent explanation of all assumptions, data sources and calculations. You will also receive a detailed Excel file that includes all unit process documentation, LCI and LCIA results, contribution analysis results, sensitivity analysis outcomes and other relevant background calculations. This gives you everything you need to meet reporting requirements, inform project decisions, and take the next steps with confidence
PNO Innovation has supported the ProLiFeX project with an LCA that evaluated the environmental impact of a new compostable bag made from hard-to-recycle plastic foils. The ProLiFeX project, chain partners Attero, Pokon, Evergreen B.V. TUSTI BV., Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Dow Benelux, OPACKGROUP and Pokon Evergreen B.V. showed that household packaging waste can be turned into high-quality consumer packaging. PNO Innovation conducted an LCA study that assessed the environmental impact of the sustainable compost bag and compared it to conventional processing of plastic waste. The results of the LCA were subsequently adopted in a socioeconomic Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA), where the overall societal impact of the project was measured by including both socio-economic and financial factors.
For the LIFE GREEN-STOVE project, funded by the European Commission under the LIFE Program, PNO Innovation conducted an LCA on a new generation of highly efficient, low-emission stoves The project was led by Palazzetti, a company specialized in the design and manufacturing of fireplaces, wood andpellet stoves, with high technological standards. The project was carried out in collaboration with ATech elektronika, a Slovenian company, and RV Distribution, based in Belgium and Luxembourg. Combining a new combustion process with Palazzetti’s most advanced control technologies, the LIFEGREEN-STOVE project aimed to achieve maximum efficiency with minimal environmental impact. The LCA study confirmed significant environmental performance improvements over conventional models, supporting both the project’s technological goals and its funding justification.
