Project developers can submit their hydrogen projects for the Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2026 (TYNDP 2026) until October 26. Inclusion in this network opens the door to significant benefits such as simplified regulations, accelerated planning and permitting, and access to financing.
On September 29, 2025, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) began mapping projects for the Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2026 (TYNDP 2026). This TYNDP provides an overview of the European gas infrastructure and its future developments, and maps out the integrated gas and hydrogen networks based on a series of development scenarios. The TYNDP also includes an outlook on the adequacy of European supply and an assessment of the resilience of the network. The TYNDP is updated every two years for both electricity (ENTSO-E) and gas (ENTSOG).
In the course of 2026, the Commission will open up the possibility to apply for Project of Common Interest (PCI) or Project of Mutual Interest (PMI) status for energy infrastructure projects under the Trans-European Network for Energy (TEN-E) Regulation. PCI or PMI status enables project developers to benefit from simplified regulations, accelerated planning and permitting, and access to funding through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). PCIs are therefore an important tool for helping to achieve the EU’s ambitious energy policy and climate goals. To be eligible for inclusion in the EU list of PCIs and PMIs, and thus to benefit from these important advantages, hydrogen projects must be included in the TYNDP 2026. Without TYNDP status, you will miss out on this future funding opportunity.
Hydrogen infrastructure project developers can submit an application for the following project categories:
Incidentally, in addition to hydrogen projects, the current call is also open to natural gas infrastructure projects and smart gas network infrastructure projects.
Projects can be submitted during the ‘Project Submission Phase’ between September 29 and October 26, 2025, in ENTSOG’s online submission system. All submitted projects must meet specific administrative and technical criteria to be eligible, as defined in the “ENTSOG Final Guidelines for Project inclusion (GPI) for TYNDP 2026.”
Project developers who have already submitted their projects for TYNDP 2024 must resubmit their projects and provide up-to-date information in order for their projects to be eligible.
