PNO coordinates the European projects ToBeReal, supporting the bioeconomy sector, and Verne, promoting new circular and sustainable business models in the tourism sector.
VERNE, under the HORIZON-CL6-2024-CIRCBIO-01-4, call, aims to accelerate the transition of local and regional tourism destinations and businesses towards circular and sustainable models. The project will provide a comprehensive framework to analyse the feasibility and impact of the tourism sector, developing collaborative, scalable and replicable solutions to be implemented in five representative destinations in Europe. These solutions will include digital technologies, improved waste management, wastewater treatment, use of electric vehicles, among others, while analysing the business models for their implementation and covering a wide range of tourism sectors. VERNE also aims to contribute to sectoral cohesion by offering a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ that will function as a hub of knowledge and best practices in sustainable tourism.
On the other hand, the ToBeReaL project, under the HORIZON-CL6-2024-CIRCBIO-01-8, call, has a duration of five years and aims to catalyse bioeconomy projects covering different biomass-based value chains. With a consortium including six key bioeconomy clusters, recognised technology centres and several SMEs, ToBeReaL will provide strategic assistance and high-level services in four key areas: technical, business and financial, regulatory and legal, and social innovation. The project will pay special attention to those European regions where the bioeconomy is still developing, in order to increase the number of flagship projects across Europe.
