Connecting Europe Facility (CEF)

Supports the development of sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks

The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is the EU’s funding instrument to support the development of high-performing, sustainable, and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the fields of transport, energy, and digital services. By targeting investment in key infrastructure projects, the CEF aims to promote growth, job creation, and competitiveness across Europe.

CEF program overview
CEF supports the development of high-performing, sustainable, and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the fields of transport, energy, and digital services. Here’s how CEF is divided into different sections:

  • CEF Transport: to support the construction and modernization of transport infrastructure across the EU, enhancing the interconnectivity of various transport modes (road, rail, air, and maritime)
  • CEF Energy: to promote energy infrastructure projects that enhance the EU’s energy security, integrate renewable energy sources, and improve energy efficiency
  • CEF Digital: to support the deployment of digital infrastructure that can foster digital connectivity and enhance the EU’s digital economy.
